On April 13, 2013, we played a show at Morgan's Tavern in Riverside for City Mouse's tour kickoff party. Also on that bill was some band called Gentlemen Prefer Blood whom we had never heard of before. Upon arriving, Alex and Danny realized they were wearing the exact same Undercover Monsters shirt. How embarrassing! To escape the shame, Danny bought a Gentlemen Prefer Blood shirt between songs of our set and changed right there on stage. While everyone was admiring his masculine physique, some incredibly drunk lady approached him and asked to see the now discarded Undercover Monsters shirt. Thinking she just wanted to see the logo he held it up, but she snatched it from his hands and retreated back into the audience. Our set continued, flawlessly as always, and eventually the drunk lady reappeared, now wearing Danny's shirt. After the set he politely asked for it back, but she refused and eventually vanished into the night, possibly to a hospital to be treated for alcohol poisoning, literally having stolen the shirt off his back.
A little while later, Alex wrote this song.
lyrics
Code Red, Amber Alert, someone kidnapped Danny’s shirt, and he’s scared he’s never gonna get to wear it again. There’s no reward just do what’s right, he stays up sobbing late at night, when he thinks of all the terrible things that might be happening. He likes to think it’ll be okay, that she’ll change her mind and bring it back someday. He’s lying to himself, he knows she never will. It all went down at Morgan’s Tavern Bar, skinny blonde girl in an old white car, last seen headed straight for Victorville.
